DNE School of Dance Policies

Tuition Policy for

Kids Dance, Hip Hop, Streetfunk, Irish Step, Lyrical and Modern Dance

• Tuition installments are payable on the first  of each month.
• A $10.00 late payment fee is automatically charged after the 10th of the month.  There are no exceptions. 
• Tuition Payment Options:  Your dancer's seasonal tuition is paid over nine installments or may be paid in two installments September 2009 and January 2010 (receive 5% discount) or paid in full by September 2009 (receive 10% discount)
• If tuition falls behind, the student will be allowed to observe but not participate in class until payment is brought up to date.
• A $20.00 "Returned Check Fee" charge will be applied to your account for all returned checks.
• There are no refunds for any fall or summer tuition. 
• There are no refunds on registration fees.  There are no refunds on costume deposits or balances.  There are no refunds on any private, semi-private or group ballroom lessons. 
• Family exchanges are allowed to immediate family members only.
• A 10% discount is offered to three or more dancers enrolled from one family.
• No refunds on any costume deposits or balances.
• If a class is cancelled mid-season you will receive a DNE dance credit for the amount not used on the dancer’s account.  Note:  this dance credit is dated from the time of notification.

Cancellation Policy for Children's Classes

• You must notify the studio in person, by telephone or in writing that your child will not be participating in class.  If this does not happen you will be billed for the months prior to notification.

Scheudle Changes

• Class schedules are subject to change for holidays.
• There are no regularly scheduled classes during school vacations (we follow the Massachusetts school calendar).
• We hold classes on every Monday holiday with the exception of Martin Luther King Day.
• DNE, School of Dance is not responsible for the makeup of snow days.  
• If the Chelmsford School systems cancel school due to inclement weather, DNE will also close for classes.  If there is a morning delay for Chelmsford School systems or your DNE class is on a Saturday and you are not sure if there is class please check our website (spotlight on home page) or call our studio at 978.251.1700.

• Please note:  We have a new snow/inclement weather class makeup policy.  If DNE closes due to the closings of the Chelmsford school systems or because we have decided to close due to inclement weather in the evening or on a Saturday...you are able to make up the cancelled class in the same level on a different day.  If your student does not have the same level class offered on a different day please contact the office for the appropriate level class for makeup.  You may be asked to make the class up in the month of May after the Festival Performance due to class choreography...

  We will not be making up any snow/inclement weather classes during school vacations.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact the office...

• Any classes with five or less students may be asked to transfer to another scheduled class day.

Attendance/Make-Up Classes/Tardiness

• A total effort must be made to attend every class.  Dance is a group effort and your absence affects everyone.  You are required to call the studio in case of an absence.  You will only be eligible to make up the missed class if you call prior to your scheduled class to inform us of your absence.
• If your dancer is absent more than five times after choreography has begun for our Festival Spring Performance the instructor has the right to have the dancer not participate in the choreography that the dancer missed.  If choreography is completed and the dancer is absent five or more times the instructor has the right to not have the dancer perform with that class.  Dance performances are a group effort and it is simply not fair to the class to have a dancer be behind in choreography for their class performance.
• Tuition payments must be up to date to qualify for make-up classes.
• You must make up missed classes within a one-month period from your absence or make-up time will be forfeited.
• Students must not leave class at any time unless excused by their teacher.
• No refunds for absent classes.
• DNE is at no time responsible for unattended children before or after their dance class.
• DNE is not responsible for any articles of clothing, jewlry or personal belongings left in our studios.

Class Attire & Dance Wear

• The proper and correct dance shoes must be worn in class at all times.  Dancing in inappropriate shoes may result in injury and will not lead to optimum technical development.
• Female students are required to wear leotard and tights at all times.  Hair must be tied back with no hair ornaments.  Male students must wear jazz pants, a dance belt and a tee shirt.
• Professional classes are held in a professional manner.
• Absolutely no jeans or pants in class at any time. 
• The instructor may ask the dancer to observe the class if the dancer is not dressed & prepared for class appropriately.
• Higher level ballet classes need to have their hair in a bun with leotard and tights.
